Tips to get ready for your Boudoir Session

Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your session.

  1. In the 2 weeks leading up to your session, up your water intake. This will get rid of bloating and clear & hydrate your skin.

  2. Exfoliate & moisturize your body. Moisturizing your whole body on the day of the shoot will make your skin glow & look exceptionally smooth. Note: do not feel like you need to get rid of stretch marks or scars. They are a part of who we are and make us unique. :)

Some products that I love and use regularly are Tree Hut Sugar Scrub. You can buy it pretty much anywhere, and it’s under $10. They have lots of different types. I like lotions that promise a glow. I love L’Oreal’s Lumi Glotion. Again, you can get it at most stores, and it’s under $20.

  3. If you are going to shave, do it on the day of your session. This will help eliminate any redness or irritation on the day of. If you choose to wax, try to get it done 4-5 days prior again to eliminate redness, bumps, or irritation. If you typically get bumps or irritation, Tend Skin works great to combat that redness. Apply it right after shaving or waxing. I found it on Amazon for around $13. You can also use Stridex.

  4. If you choose to get a spray tan, you will want to do this at least 3-4 days prior to your session to let the tan settle into your skin. This will allow it to look more natural. I have personally used Air Tan in Greenwood. They are a little more expensive compared to other places I have been, but it is well worth it. You will not be orange or streaky. If you want to do it yourself, here are a few that I regularly use at home: b.Tan which I’m currently using & love, and Norvell Premium - I also love this one. There are tutorials on Tik Tok of how to use this one without a spray machine.

  5. I can’t stress this part enough…Try on any outfits or lingerie you plan to wear before your session. This will not only ensure that they fit, but this will get you excited for your session! If they don’t fit or you don’t love the way you look, this will give you time for a backup plan. I’m happy to jump on Facetime or Zoom if you aren’t sure whether an outfit works or not. Let’s work it out before your session!

  6. On the day of, wear loose fitting clothes-especially panties and bra. Once you get here, you can change into a studio robe while getting pampered with hair & makeup. This will allow any clothing imprints on your skin to subside.

  7. Don’t forget to eat and drink plenty of fluids on the day of. Not eating or being dehydrated may make you feel lethargic and not at your best. I want you to feel great and enjoy your time in the studio!

  8. Stretch a little each day leading up to coming to the studio. You’ll be nice and limber for your session, and this may help combat soreness after. Still expect a little soreness after your session…you’ll be working hard for those killer images ;)

Finally, relax! You are going to have the best time! I got you! ;)
